Gray Gaulding No. 2 Krispy Kreme Chevrolet South Boston Speedway Pre-Race ReportPublished on March 20, 2012 Coulter Motorsports driver Gray Gaulding and his No. 2 Krispy Kreme Toyota team head to South Boston, Va., this weekend for the PASS Super Late Model 150 - the second of 16 races on the 2012 Pro All Star Series South Super Late Model schedule.
The event will mark Gaulding's third start at South Boston Speedway, as the 14-year-old driver made two starts at "America's Hometown Track" in 2011. In his first trip to the historic speedway in May 2011, he qualified 15th in the 24-car field and earned a solid top 10 with eighth place.
Gaulding returned to the track in August hoping for another top-10 finish, but luck wasn't on his side. He qualified 16th out of 28 cars, but had to start from the rear of the field for the 150-lap event after changing a flat. Gaulding made a strong charge to the front and was running eighth when the car suffered an engine failure. His second start ended with a 15th-place finish.
Saturday's race will be Gaulding's second in the No. 2 Krispy Kreme Toyota with Coulter Motorsports. In his last event, the South Carolina Clash 150 at Dillon Motor Speedway, Gaulding finished 16th.
Gaulding will get an early start on his Saturday race day with two practice sessions at 9:30 a.m. and 10:20 a.m. Time trials begin at 11:45 a.m. and the speedway's feature events will get underway at 2 p.m. The PASS Super Late Model 150 is the second of four feature events on Saturday's schedule at South Boston Speedway. (All times Eastern Standard Time.)
